Christopher Weuve, Wargame Designer, Wargame Analyst, Naval Analyst

Mr. Weuve has been a consumer and playtester of wargames since the late 1980s and a professional producer and analyst of wargames since the late 1990s. After ten years as a systems administrator and technical support engineer, in 1999 he joined the Center for Naval Analyses, where he alternated between analyzing naval exercises at-sea and ashore, and designing wargames for DOD clients with Peter Perla, Mike Markowitz, and Al Nofi.  Eventually growing weary of semi-annual trips to Hawaii, in 2005 he joined the research faculty of the Naval War College's War Gaming Department, where he played critical design and analytical roles in various wargame efforts, including Halsey Alfa, GLOBAL, and the NWC's wargaming support for the effort that eventually produced "A Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower."  He was the lead analyst for NORWESTPAC for three years, and for GLOBAL 2008.  Completing his graduate degree at the Naval War College with distinction in 2008 (with Distinction), Chris left the NWC in early 2010, and is currently a naval analyst with the US Department of Defense.

Chris's latest publication is "China's Aircraft Carrier Development: The Next Phase" in Andrew S. Erickson and Lyle J. Goldstein (eds) Chinese Aerospace Power: Evolving Maritime Roles (2011).  He has lectured on wargaming at ORIGINS, CONNECTIONS, and various science fiction conventions, as well designing and teaching wargame design, data collection, and analysis classes.  Like all wargame designers, he has a half-dozen game designs in various stages of completion.
