Dr. Yuna Huh Wong, leader in advancing the M, S & G Irregular Warfare

Dr. Wong is an operations research analyst at the Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC), Operations Analysis Division (OAD) where for the past two years, she has led the Irregular Warfare Project Team.  She is currently the methodology lead for the Joint Irregular Warfare Analytic Baseline (JIWAB) study.  From 2006-2009, she was a Senior Analyst at SAIC, supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE), Joint Data Support (JDS).  There she was the head of the Irregular Warfare team and a frequent reviewer of modeling and simulation (M&S) tools developed for irregular warfare analysis.  Her current interests include the application of social science methods and wargaming to irregular warfare analysis; alternative methodological paradigms to computer simulation in the examination of irregular warfare; and the development of social science skill sets within the defense community.  She is the former head of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS) Social Science Community of Practice; and a past chair and current advisor for the MORS working group on Social Science Methods and Applications.  She holds a Ph.D. in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School (RAND Corporation), where her 2006 dissertation was on non-combatants in urban operations and in military models and simulations.  She also received an MA in Political Science from Columbia University, a BS in Political Science from MIT, a BS in Economics from MIT, and graduated from the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology (TJHSS&T).
